I have had a great deal of experience with older children and adolescents who have experienced abuse and trauma, parental divorce, ADHD, behavior problems in school and at home, grief and loss, and anger management.
I have worked with adolescents in diverse contexts such as Travis County Juvenile Court, Settlement Home (A residential treatment center for girls ages 10-17 who are survivors of abuse.), Crockett High School, Mendez Middle School, Travis High School, and GenAustin.
My background has given me the opportunity to get to know a lot of teens and to understand the challenges that they face. Depending on the comfort of the child, we may engage in an activity that they like while we’re talking or we may just talk. I value parents’ feedback and input. There may be joint sessions, depending on the individual teen’s comfort level.
